HitecVision and its portfolio companies are involved with a number of charities and social enterprises. Unlike our ESG initiatives, the work we do in the CSR arena is primarily driven by the social, community and philanthropic impact it generates rather than any commercial imperative. Wherever possible we seek to align some of our philanthropic activities with those undertaken within our portfolio.
HitecVision’s philanthropic responsibility initiative started in 2013 with the humanitarian organisation Kirkens Bymisjon (The Church City Mission of Norway) and has since expanded with new initiatives.
Our largest initiatives are aimed at substance abuse victims: the establishment of a chain of bicycle repair shops offering job training, and a local football street team, Gatelaget. An example of social entrepreneurship, the four workshops in the Paahjul bicycle repair chain provide top quality customer service while at the same time providing on-the-job training for former addicts. The Gatelaget football team is a physical activity offer for women and men with substance-related problems. Both are aimed at helping these people find their way back into the workforce or study.
