Minox Technology has today announced that it has completed the delivery of two water deaeration skids to the world’s largest Floating Production, Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessel, for Total’s Egina field offshore Nigeria. The compact modules were built in Singapore, and will now be transported to Nigeria where the water injection module will be finalized. The skids have a water capacity of 500.000 barrels of water per day (approximately 3.330 m3/h).
– This is an important milestone for us to reach. The contract is one of the most significant contracts ever awarded to Minox and represents another successful delivery of our compact, chemical free deoxygenation system. The project will be an excellent reference for us, says Bjørn Einar Brath, CEO of Minox Technology. – We are now looking forward to continue to build upon the good relationships with Samsung and Total in future operations.
The Total-operated Egina oil field is located 130 km off the coast of Nigeria at water depths of more than 1500 meters. The field has an estimated development cost of about USD 15 billion, with operations expected to start in 2018. 44 wells will be connected to the FPSO, which will be able to produce more than 200 000 barrels of oil per day, with a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels. As is usual for such developments, seawater will be injected into the reservoir to increase oil recovery, however the water has to be treated first. Total and Samsung Heavy Industries awarded the Egina deoxygenation system contract to Minox Technology in 2014.
