Hafslund Celsio is selling the fiber company Hafslund Fiber to Eidsiva Bredbånd, marking a natural step in focusing on its core business. Eidsiva Bredbånd will acquire 100 percent of the shares in Hafslund Fiber, along with its customers, infrastructure, and employees.
Since its founding in 2019, Hafslund Fiber has established itself as a significant provider of dark fiber in Oslo. The company quickly became a challenger in the market and has built a strong customer base.
“We are proud of the remarkable growth Hafslund Fiber has achieved since its inception. The company has secured a strong market position while maintaining a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to challenge the status quo. Now is the right time to provide the company and its employees with the opportunity to grow further under new ownership,” says Knut Inderhaug, CEO of Hafslund Celsio.
“The acquisition of Hafslund Fiber is part of our strategy to provide a secure, robust, publicly-owned digital infrastructure. We have already expanded our fiber services in Innlandet and Bærum, and this acquisition further strengthens our geographical presence. We are committed to helping build Norway’s digital backbone,” says Henning Olsen, CEO of Eidsiva.
Hafslund Celsio initially became a co-owner of Hafslund Fiber when it was established in 2019 and has since increased its ownership to 100 percent. By utilizing Hafslund’s district heating infrastructure in Oslo, the company has ensured excellent fiber coverage in the city. Hafslund Celsio is Norway’s largest district heating provider and is experiencing significant growth in district cooling. The company is the country’s leading waste incineration service provider and is working to establish carbon capture at Norway’s largest waste incineration plant at Klemetsrud. With carbon capture, Hafslund Celsio aims to become the world’s first carbon-negative company.
