September 26, 2025  – The investment fund HitecVision finalized the acquisition of a 50% stake in Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB) from TotalEnergies. As a result, PGB, the biogas leader in Poland, became a joint venture equally owned by TotalEnergies and HitecVision.

PGB was founded in 2007 and is the leading biogas producer in Poland. Its portfolio consists of 21 operational biogas units with an annual electricity and heat production capacity of 500 GWh (biomethane equivalent). The company was acquired by TotalEnergies in 2023.

The sale of a 50% stake to HitecVision is part of the TotalEnergies farm-down strategy, which involves the partial sale of renewable assets to investment partners. HitecVision brings capital and experience in scaling energy companies, with experience from the biogas and biomethane industry. This will enable the joint venture to achieve its strategic goal of increasing installed capacity to 2 TWh/y by 2030.

” I am delighted of this significant milestone that will allow PGB to realize our plans to increase energy production. Combining the experience of a global leader in energy transition with the capital and know-how of one of Europe’s leading renewable energy investors will significantly accelerate the development of our biogas and biomethane projects in Poland. – said Łukasz Semeniuk, President of Polska Grupa Biogazowa.

About PGB

Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB) is the largest producer of electricity and heat from biogas in Poland, holding a 15% market share. PGB employs 200 people and operates 21 assets across the country. The company converts waste into electricity and heat through cogeneration and into a biologically valuable fertilizer. PGB’s annual production capacity exceeds 0.5 TWh of biomethane equivalent — enough to power more than 90,000 households.

PGB aims to reach a production level of 2 TWh by 2030, while simultaneously expanding its operations to the purification of biogas as to inject biomethane into the gas grid. The implementation of these plans will represent a significant contribution to the development of Poland’s renewable energy sector and the decarbonization of heat and power sources.

Founded in 2007, PGB has been part of TotalEnergies since 2023 and is a joint venture equally owned by TotalEnergies and HitecVision since 2025, combining the experience of a global leader in energy transition with the capital and know-how of one of Europe’s leading renewable energy investors.
